Olivier Calmeille

Graduated in 2003 from the Newark Violin Making School (UK), Olivier focalized his works on periods instrument (Baroque, Classical, Romantic), combining intimately historical research and violin making. Subsequently he perfected and worked with historical’ violinmakers throughout Europe (England, France, Netherlands, Germany). Since 12 years in Montpellier, he specializes his workshop in the making and restoration of historical instruments (Quartet & Violes). Through his analysis treatises & manuscripts and his research in European collections & museums, he attempts to find a philosophy of work faithful to the original instruments, with the will to meet the musicians' requirements.
